Kringle's Capsule Reviews: Roy Rogers, Marian Aas Hansen, Venice

Christmas is Always by Roy Rogers And Dale Evans

Delightfully nostalgic reissue from Capitol finds singing/yodeling cowboy Rogers and his wife melding the best of old school Christmas pop with Rogers traditional country twang and a touch of down home spirituality.

It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas by Marian Aas Hansen

First rate collection of jazz tinged holiday standards from Norway's Marian Aas Hansen. (Though the slight lyric mis-translation in the title cut throws me off every time I hear it.)

Christmas with Venice

Cool, laid back California harmony meets classic Christmas standards on this terrific collection from the unfairly not hugely famous Venice. As close to a CSN (or CSN&Y for that matter) holiday album as you're likely to get yet, at the same time,  wholly Venice's own.
